Description
Ages: 3-8Grades: PreK-3
These one-page, rebus-supported stories help children understand the basic social skills for home, community, and school. The book focuses on forty social skills needed in many different settings throughout life. The ready-to-use lessons consist of simple, concrete things to say and do to guarantee social success.
The concise format makes it easy to keep a copy of the lesson where the social situation occurs. Customize the lessons by adding student-specific information, editing the text, and using a photograph in place of the generic picture in the book. There are instructional and behavioral lessons.
The instructional lessons teach young children what they need to do or say in social situations that are sometimes overwhelming (e.g., Receiving a Compliment). The behavioral lessons target specific social behaviors that need to be stopped (e.g., Sticking Out My Tongue).
The lessons are grouped by these topics:
- Social InteractionsSaying "Hi," Introducing Myself, Letting Others Talk, Asking to Use the Bathroom, Sharing, Showing Affection, Playing a Board Game, Keeping My Shirt Down, and more
